An exhibition of artwork by Olivia Finn Art on the 24th of November - 8th of December 2022 during library opening hours. Exhibition launch will be on Thursday 24th November, 6.30pm at the Aidan Heavey Library in Athlone.
Olivia Finn is an artist based in Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath. Formerly a secondary school teacher and English and Politics graduate, Olivia has been painting since 2019. Working with acrylic and oil paints, Olivia depicts the Irish landscape and its wildlife in an imaginative, fantastical way. Influenced by surrealism and abstract art, Olivia is an artist who is passionate about depicting the times we live in including environmental awareness, social justice and the beauty of nature.
Visions and Revisions is a surreal collection of oil and acrylic paintings. The works in this exhibition offer a surreal interpretation of the ordinary, highlighting the extraordinary in the ordinary. Environmental issues, feminism, social justice and the beauty around us are all central to the collection. Everyday items such as leaves or eggs take on a dream-like quality, revising their aesthetics, taking them from the mundane to the magical.
T.S. Eliot say in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock,
“…time yet for a hundred indecisions,
And for a hundred visions and revisions,
Before the taking of a toast and tea.”
This exhibition invites the viewer to take a surreal voyage with time for visions and revisions.
Olivia Finn will be launching Visions and Revisions on Thursday 24th November at 6.30pm in Athlone Library. All are welcome and light refreshments will be provided. Visions and Revisions runs from Thursday 24th November until Thursday 8th December at Athlone Library during library opening hours.
