10. Motions

Cllr Michael Dollard: “That in light of the recent announcement by Government of a funding allocation re Tenant in Situ Scheme to Westmeath County Council, that the Local Authority would indicate what the implications are for the county at large”.

Cllr Aengus O’Rourke: “For the members of WCC to agree to commence a process to CPO the abandoned, idle and derelict houses in Sarsfield Square, Athlone owned by the approved housing body 'RESPOND HOUSING ASSOCIATION'. Respond have shown themselves to be utterly incapable of managing both their occupied and derelict houses in Sarsfield Square. Minister James Browne recently approved an additional €265 million in capital funding in 2025 for the Secondhand Acquisitions Programme. This increased funding is specifically designed to tackle priority categories of need such as: Buy and Renew acquisitions which tackle vacancy”

Cllr Vinny McCormack: “To call on this Council to write to the American Ambassador to Ireland to outline our frustration and disappointment with the recent decision to invite Conor McGregor to the White House on St Patrick's day and affording him the opportunity to address the world media, purporting to be a spokesperson of the Irish people."

(i) Recommendation from Chair of the Economic Development Enterprise, Agriculture and Tourism SPC in respect of funding proposals from the Economic Development and Promotion Fund:

a. Athlone Chamber of Commerce Festival and Events Co-Ordinator Amendment from full time to part time Co-Ordinator - €35,000/a
b. Kitchen extension to Café at Streamstown Trailhead - €28,000
c. Destination Athlone Retail Marketing Promotion - €5,000
d. Midlands Corporate and Policy Engagement Forum - €5,000
