Cllr. Frankie Keena:
That Westmeath County Council corresponds to all relevant Government Departments requesting a further reduction of taxes on fuel as the escalating costs are having a serious impact on farming communities, industry and the public as they go about their daily lives, and that such reduction be passed on in full to the customer.
Cllr. Tom Farrell:
That Westmeath County Council would write to Eamon Ryan, Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications of Ireland, requesting permission for Bord na Móna to allow Contractors to harvest turf due to the urgent need for fuel, in light of the War in Ukraine.
