You are requested to attend the October Monthly Meeting of Athlone Municipal District which will be held in the Civic Centre, Church Street, Athlone at 3.00p.m. Monday,

1st October 2018.

 

AGENDA

 

  1. Votes of congratulations/sympathy.

 

  1. To approve the Minutes of the September Monthly Meeting held on 3rd September 2018, In Committee meeting of 3rd September and In Committee meeting of 17th September 2018

 

  1. Matters arising.

 

  1. To receive presentation from Town Twinning Committee.

 

  1. To receive presentation from Business Champions.

 

  1. To note commencement of the Part 8 Consultation Process for the  development of 10 Houses at Cornamagh, Athlone, County Westmeath.

 

  1. To receive an update on the Church Street Enhancement project.

 

  1. To arrange date for In Committee meeting with Public Participation Network.

 

  1. To receive report on proposed amendments to Parking Byelaws in   Moate (Business Permits).

 

  1. To receive report on proposed amendments to Parking Byelaws in  Athlone (Northgate Street / Abbey Road parking Zone).

 

    11. To receive report on proposed removal of car parking spaces at Castlemaine Street / Brideswell.

 

    12. To receive report on proposed one way system on Westside of Athlone.

 

    13. To consider removal of 2 parking spaces on the west side of Northgate Street to facilitate a bus stop.

 

    14. To approve the Athlone Municipal District 2019-2021 Multi-Annual Restoration Improvement Programme.

  1. Motions:

 

Cllr. Tom Farrell:  “Ask Athlone Municipal District to write to Minister of Defence to move the H/Q  of 2nd Brigade from Cahal Brugha to Custume Barracks Athlone.”

 

Cllr. Tom Farrell: “That Athlone Municipal District would discuss the option of a new Farmers Market to be held on a Saturday in Athlone at the new Civic Square/ Canopy”

 

Cllr Tom Farrell:  “Ask Athlone Municipal District to publicise the Land Owners/Property Holders responsibility with regards to Trees and Hedges on all Public Roads”

 

Cllr John Dolan “That Athlone Municipal District includes the L5464 road in the  roads program.”

 

Cllr John Dolan “That Athlone Municipal District provides a public bin in Beech Park.”

 

Cllr John Dolan “That Athlone Municipal District erects No Dumping signs on the Carrickobrien road”

 

Cllr Michael O’Brien “That Athlone Municipal District carry out works to make safe a dangerous bend at the Conthread/Ballydoogan junction in the interest of public safety.”

 

Cllr Michael O’Brien “That Athlone Municipal District write to Bus Eireann  asking them to move the    location of the AIT bus stop on Garrycastle road to a more suitable location.”

 

Cllr Michael O’Brien “That Athlone Municipal District install a footpath from the Harbour/Gillivan's shop that would connect to the footpath past Crozier auto parts.”

 

Cllr Frankie Keena “That this Municipal District provide a safe road crossing for the residents of  Creggan to access local shops and also to complete the footpath from the N6 roundabout to the IDA Business Park for recreation purposes.”

 

Cllr Frankie Keena “That this Municipal District contact the TII maintenance crew on the Athlone Relief Road to cut the high trees as soon as possible to the rear of Cloghanboy Park and Cloghanboy Close along the relief road in the interest of public safety.”

 

Cllr Frankie Keena “That this Municipal District apply to the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine under their NeighbourWood Scheme to provide amenity facilities in the following locations: Carnpark Forest, Canal Banks & Big Meadow and Portlick.”

 

Cllr Aengus O’Rourke “For this Municipal District to agree to provide free parking in Council car parks in Athlone for the week running up to Christmas, from December 17th to 24th inclusive.”

 

Cllr Aengus O’Rourke “For this Municipal District to set aside funding to support a National Schools Debating Competition for 2019 to follow on from the 2018 competition which proved to be very successful” 

 

Cllr Aengus O’Rourke “For this Municipal District to fly the European flag in our Civic Square and on Athlone Castle, along-side the Tri-colour.”
