AGENDA
12. Correspondence.
a) Cllr Tom Farrell: Ask Athlone Municipal District to carry out Traffic Calming measures in Mount Temple village.
b) Cllr Tom Farrell: Ask Athlone Municipal District to write to Minister of Agriculture to request additional supports for Suckler Cow Farmers, in the context of the Cap 2020 negotiations.
c) Cllr Tom Farrell: Ask Athlone Municipal District to write to the Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment to introduce and improve safety regulations around the use of motorized Quads eg anti roll bar.
d) Cllr John Dolan: That Athlone Municipal District gives an update on efforts to relocate the Tourist office in Athlone.
e) Cllr John Dolan: That Athlone Municipal District installs a yellow box junction at the entrance to Auburn Drive, Athlone.
f) Cllr John Dolan: That Athlone Municipal District writes to the Minister of Justice to seek the introduction of legislation to make perjury a crime in law.
g) Cllr Aengus O’Rourke: Following the Government's decision to designate Athlone as a 'Regional Growth Centre' for the Midlands; that this Municipal District seek a deputation with Eoghan Murphy TD, Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government at the earliest possible opportunity, to formulate a plan with the Minister and his Department, for Athlone to have its autonomy restored as a stand alone, local authority, as was the case under Athlone Town Council prior to 2014.
h) Cllr Aengus O’Rourke: For this Municipal District to lead the way by putting in place a detailed 'design guide' for our shop front landscape in the town, ensuring that our approach is practical, coherent and complementary to our new street-scape going forward - and that proper enforcement is built in to the plan.
i) Cllr Aengus O’Rourke: For this Municipal District to include the Ballymahon Road (from the White Gates to the Crescent) in our resurfacing road programme at the soonest possible opportunity, as this section of road has deteriorated significantly in recent months.
j) Cllr Michael O’Brien: That Athlone Municipal District extend access to parking permits to businesses/employees in the restricted parking zone in Moate.
k) Cllr Michael O’Brien: That Athlone Municipal District provide traffic calming measures in Mount Temple village in the interest of public safety.
l) Cllr Frankie Keena:That this Municipal District discuss the impact that Seetec has on the availability of participants for CE and TUS schemes.
m) Cllr Frankie Keena: That this Municipal District consider placing a ramp on the Garnafeilagh Road to reduce traffic speed in consultation with local residents.
n) Cllr Frankie Keena: That this Municipal District discuss ways of improving sightlines and a safe egress at the junction of The Derries road in Bonavalley and the old Dublin road.
