You are requested to attend the February Monthly Meeting of Athlone Municipal District which will be held in the Civic Centre, Church Street, Athlone at 3.00p.m. Monday,

5th February 2018.

  1. To approve the Minutes of the January Monthly Meeting held on 8th January 2018 and in committee meeting held on 11th January 2018.

  1. To receive presentation from Athlone Chamber of Commerce

 

  1. To receive a presentation on Lough Ree Tourism Plan

 

  1. To consider and approve Round 1 of Festival and Event Grants 2018

 

     7. To consider and approve the Schedule of Municipal District Works for Athlone Municipal District for 2018

 

    8.To consider request from Waterways Ireland to host a Civic Address of Welcome for the Worlds Canal Conference delegates in September 2018

a)      Cllr Tom Farrell:

That Athlone Municipal District erects public lighting at Boher Church & Drumraney Community Centre.” (Deferred from January Meeting)

b)      Cllr Tom Farrell:

“That Athlone Municipal District request Board Gais to make a presentation to a meeting of Athlone Municipal District concerning the route of the new gas line going to Centre Parcs, Ballymahon and explain the procedures for new connections. (Deferred from January Meeting)

 

c)      Cllr Tom Farrell:

“That Athlone Municipal District carry out a safety review of the works done at Tinkers Cross as motorists have complained of poor lighting at night.”

d)     Cllr Tom Farrell: “That Athlone Municipal District identifies ways and means of improving road markings at Mullacloe Cross L5342 junction onto the R390 especially the Traffic from Ballymore to Mullingar.”

 

e)      Cllr Tom Farrell: “That Athlone Municipal District remove steps at the health centre Glasson to facilitate the wheelchair users from having to go onto the N55 to access the health centre.”

 

f)       Cllr Tom Farrell “That Athlone Municipal District provide a specific heading and budget under the roads programme for water cuts in the rural areas of Athlone Municipal District”

 

g)       Cllr John Dolan “That this Municipal District installs CCTV at all of the bottle banks in the district.”

 

h)       Cllr John Dolan “That this Municipal District requests that the Office of Public Works   take full responsibility for the maintenance of the Boor River.”

 

i)        Cllr John Dolan  “That this Municipal District installs ramps at Baylin National School”

 

j)         Cllr Ailish McManus “To write to the Minister for finance and request that he review the tax relief for 1st time buyers buying a secondhand home.”

 

k)      Cllr Ailish McManus “That this municipal District rectify the drainage issues at Priory park.”

 

l)        Cllr Ailish McManus “That this Municipal District reinstate the road at St. Joseph’s Villas.”

 

m)    Cllr Frankie Keena “That this Municipal District rectify the flooding issue at a local business beside the junction of the N55 and L-5468 (near Three Jolly Pidgeons) caused from the run off of surface water from the N55”

 

n)      Cllr Frankie Keena “That this Municipal District meet with residents in Gratton Row and Abbey Lane to examine issues in their area such as speeding traffic, repairs to surface water channel, adhoc parking, blocking access to their homes and limited residential parking for themselves”

 

o)      Cllr Frankie Keena: “That this Municipal District discuss the urgent need to repair the wall at the old Athlone Glass Site and the Clonown Road that was damaged during a storm late last year.”

 

p)      Cllr Aengus O’Rourke “For this Municipal District to fly the Tri-colour and our county flag from the flag poles in our civic plaza on weekdays (and/or when our offices are open).”

 

q)      Cllr Aengus O’Rourke “For this Municipal District to do an assessment of Annsfield Woods estate in Athlone to establish what might be done to slow/calm traffic within this estate.”

 

r)       Cllr Aengus O’Rourke “For this Municipal District to engage with Bus Eireann and AIT to examine alternatives to the 'bus-stop' situation along the side wall of AIT on Garrycastle Road which badly affects the flow of traffic and offers little shelter for those waiting for or using the bus service.”

 

s)       Cllr Michael O’Brien: “That Athlone Municipal District CPO derelict properties in Toorvalley housing estate in Moate.”

 

t)       Cllr Michael O’Brien: “That Athlone Municipal District provide toilet facilities at Moate Railway Station Station House in order to service the Greenway.”

 

u)      Cllr Michael O’Brien: “That Athlone Municipal District provide a pedestrian crossing at lower Main Street in Moate in the interest of public safety.”
