You are requested to attend the November Monthly Meeting of Athlone Municipal District which will be held in the Civic Centre, Church Street, Athlone at 3.00p.m. Monday,

6th November 2017.

AGENDA

 

  1. Votes of congratulations/sympathy.

 

  1. To approve the Minutes of the October Monthly Meeting held on 2nd October 2017 and in committee meetings of 2nd October and 26th October 2017.

 

  1. Matters arising.

 

  1. To receive a presentation on Athlone RAPID.

 

  1. To agree a date for a PPN in-committee meeting.

 

  1. To receive a report on Town and Village Action Planning.

 

  1. To agree date for turning on of the Athlone Town Christmas Lights.

 

  1. To consider the Chief Executive’s report and General Municipal Allocation (GMA) issued under Section 102 (4A)(a) of the Local Government Act 2001  (as amended by the Local Government Reform Act 2014).

 

    9. To receive a report on the commencement of a Part 8 Planning Process for Brick Island as part of the Athlone Flood Alleviation Scheme.

 

   10. To receive a report on the commencement of a Part 8 Planning Process for Marine View as part of the Athlone Flood Alleviation Scheme.

 

  1. To receive a report on the Church St Enhancement project.

 

  1. To receive an update on the Acquisition of Lands for the Railway Field Road.

  1. Motions:

 

a)      Cllr Tom Farrell: “To Liaise with ESB regarding power lines going through Trees in Ballymore Village with a view to Public Safety.

 

b)      Cllr Tom Farrell: “That Athlone MD write to the relevant minister seeking an annual National Tree & Ivy Week, to help ensure that our trees are in a safe condition, particularly at times of adverse weather.”.

 

c)      Cllr Tom Farrell: “Athlone MD to write to TII asking them to assess the hidden dips and dangerous turnings on the N55, especially at the Pigeons and Auburn, owing from the recent serious crashes in these locations”.

 

d)     Cllr John Dolan: “That this Municipal District seek additional staff to enforce anti litterlaws”.

 

e)      Cllr John Dolan: “That this Municipal District receive a full report of the Derelict sites & buildings in the Athlone Municipal District and that the members discuss same”.

 

f)       Cllr John Dolan: “That this Municipal District engage with the Gardai relating to patrolling of the greenway.

 

g)      Cllr Frankie Keena “That this Municipal District provide a detailed response on the amount of future development that can take place within the Athlone Municipal District area on the strength of the current capacity of the public water infrastructure”.

 

h)      Cllr Frankie Keena “That this Municipal District erect road name signs at the various junctions in Glasson Village”.

 

i)        Cllr Frankie Keena “That this Municipal District rectifies the dangerous situation at the traffic lights at Moydrum / Cornamaddy Road junction whereby some motorists approaching the junction from the Cornamaddy side do not stop on the green signal due to the proximity of the next set of traffic lights at Junction 9 with the Athlone Relief Road”.

 

j)        Cllr Paul Hogan “That Athlone Municipal District make safe the dangerous trees between Ashley Crescent and Sarsfield Square.”.

 

k)      Cllr Paul Hogan That Athlone Municipal District provide monies for footpaths in Tormey Villas in the 2018 budget.

 

l)        Cllr Paul Hogan “That Athlone Municipal District detail the main objectives in our tourism strategy for 2018 and reaffirm our support for Athlone's inclusion in Ireland's Ancient East classification.”.

 m)   Cllr Aengus O’Rourke “For this Municipal District to fully support Athlone Institute of Technology in their recent bid to host the Community Games National Finals in 2018 and beyond”.

 

n)     Cllr Aengus O’Rourke “For this Municipal District to improve the safety and the appearance of the steps that lead from John Count McCormack Square to Athlone Town Centre as they are unsightly and can be difficult for older people to use. 

 

o)     Cllr Aengus O’Rourke “For this Municipal District to put a plan in place for early 2018 to clean the town bridge to include power washing the walls, painting the iron work, removal of all foliage around the bridge walls.

 

p)      Cllr. Michael O’Brien “That Athlone Municipal District provide a permanent band stand at Burgess Park, Athlone.”

 

q)     Cllr. Michael O’Brien “That Athlone Municipal District include the road outside Moate Community School in the 2018 roads programme.”

 

r)       Cllr. Michael O’Brien "That Athlone Municipal District provide an Athlone Municipal District progress report for the 2017 Town and Village renewal and Clar schemes."
