World Wetlands Day 2026
Theme: Celebrating Cultural Heritage
Join us for a guided walk and talk at Lough Derravaragh on Sunday 1st February at 11am.
Led by Gordon Whcherley (BirdWatch Ireland Westmeath Branch), this walk will highlight the birdlife and wetland habitats of Lough Derravaragh.
Lough Derravaragh is designated a Special Protection Area (SPA) for its importance to windering waterbirds.
It would be great to hear any local stories, memories or cultural connections people may wish to share about wetlands and the landscape.
