Westmeath County Council Old Rail Trail Greenway Bye Laws

Overview

Westmeath County Council in exercise of the powers vested in it under Part 19 of the Local Government Act, 2001, as amended, and the Local Government Act, 2001 (Bye-Laws) Regulations, 2006, has made Bye-Laws for the purpose of regulating the use of the Old Rail Trail Greenway.

The Bye-Laws are effective from December 20th 2018 and include provision for the imposition of a fixed payment of €50 in respect of a contravention of a Bye-Law as an alternative to a prosecution, as provided for in Section 206 of the Local Government Act 2001.

Public Inspection Point

The Bye-Laws will be available for inspection during normal office hours Monday to Friday at the following locations:

•  Mullingar District Office, Áras an Chontae, Mullingar
•  Athlone District Office, Civic Centre ,Church Street, Athlone

A copy of the Bye-Laws may also be obtained for a fee of €2.00 from these locations.
