Water Safety across Westmeath: St. Brigid’s Holiday Weekend

Water Safety Ireland have issued water safety advice in advance of the holiday weekend, aimed especially at those who may taking part in some open water swimming or walking in the outdoors adjacent to water courses.

Due to heavy rainfall during January, and the recent storm event, many rivers and lakes are currently experiencing high water levels.

You, your family, or friends may be out enjoying the outdoors in the beautiful Lake County or visiting other water and coastal locations over the holiday weekend. That is great…….but think about your safety when in/around the water.

If you see somebody in trouble on the water or along the coast, or think they are in trouble, use Marine VHF channel 16 or Dial 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
