Westmeath County Council Old Rail Trail Greenway Bye Laws


Westmeath County Council in exercise of the powers vested in it by under Part 19 of the Local Government Act, 2001, as amended and the Local Government Act, 2001 (Bye-Laws) Regulations, 2006, proposed to make Bye-Laws for the purpose of regulating the use of the Old Rail Trail Greenway.

It is proposed to make provision in the Bye-Laws for the imposition of a fixed payment of €50 in respect of a contravention of a Bye-Law as an alternative to a prosecution, as provided for in Section 206 of the Local Government Act 2001.

Public Inspection Point

The Draft Bye-Laws will be available for inspection during normal office hours Monday to Friday from Friday 24th August 2018 to Monday September 24th 2018 (both dates inclusive) at the following locations:

  • Mullingar District Office, Áras an Chontae, Mullingar
  • Athlone District Office, Civic Centre ,Church Street, Athlone

A copy of the draft Bye-Laws may also be obtained for a fee of €2.00 from these locations.
