Temporary Road Closures - N62 Athlone To Birr Road

ROADS ACT, 1993
TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUBLIC ROADS

Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Westmeath County Council having given the required notice of intention has now decided to temporarily close to
public traffic the following road for the period and reason specified below:-

Road Subject to Closure

N62 Athlone To Birr Road - from the Junction R446/N62 at Fardrum (Birr Turn) to Doon Village.

Period of Closure

For 1 week only during the period from the 29th September 2020 until the 23rd October 2020.

Reason for Closure

To facilitate Pavement Improvement Works & Maintenance Works from the Junction R446/N62 at Fardrum (Birr Turn) to Doon Village.

Alternative Routes

Traffic travelling north along the N62 towards Athlone shall divert in Doon via the R444 and then turn onto the R446 rejoining the N62 at Fardrum near Athlone.

Traffic travelling south along the N62 towards Birr shall travel along the R-446 and divert right onto the R444 to Doon and then turn left rejoining the N62 in Doon.

Local access arrangements will be in place. All diversions will be signposted.

The works are weather dependant and will be carried out over a 1-week period during the Temporary Road Closure period and at other times the road will remain open.
