Roads : Temporary Closing of Roads for the triAthlone 2017



Notice is hereby given that Westmeath County Council intends to close to public traffic the roads described hereunder on the dates and at the times shown to facilitate the holding of the triAthlone 2017 in Athlone Co Westmeath:

Friday 7th July 2017 at 1.00pm to Sunday 9th July at 6.00am

Roads to be Closed:

R446 Grace Road/Accommodation Road from L4013 Magazine Road to
L4016 Barrack Street
L4019 Main Street from L4018 Castle Street to L8015 The Quay
L8015 The Quay from L4019 Main Street to L8014 Peter’s Port
L80151 The Quay, Car Park at adjacent to the Castle

Alternative Routes Available:

Alternative access will be via L4013 Magazine Road, L4014 Connaught Street, L4017 Pearse Street and L4016 Barrack Street and vice versa. Alternative Access to The Quay will be via L4024 Fry Place and L8014 Peter’s Port and vice versa.

Saturday 8th July 2017 from 2.00pm to Sunday 9th July at 1.00am

Roads to be Closed:

R446 Town Bridge, L4016 Barrack Street, L4018 Castle Street, L4024 High Street, L4025 Bastion Street, L4007 O’Connell Street, L4014 Connacht Street, L4017 Pearse Street, L4013 Magazine Road and L8008 Canal Banks.

Alternative Routes Available:

L8007 Battery Road, L8010 Clonown Road and L8011 Deerpark Road and vice versa.

Saturday 8th July 2017 from 3.00pm to 10.00pm

Roads to be Closed:

R446 Old Galway Road from L4013 Magazine Road to County Boundary at Baylough

Alternative Routes Available:

Alternative Access to will be via N6 and R916 Roscommon Road and vice versa.

All diversions will be signposted.
Parking will be prohibited on streets associated with the Road Closures.
Restricted Access will be available on all roads for urgent deliveries and emergency vehicles.

Any person who wishes to object to the closing of these roads should lodge such objection with Mr. Pat Keating, Athlone Municipal District, Civic Centre, Church Street, Athlone, not later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday 21st June 2017.
