Westmeath County Council and the National Transport Authority (NTA) are working together to introduce a town bus service to Mullingar to support the sustainable and compact growth of the town, enable its development potential and provide a public transport option for residents and visitors.
This proposed bus service would provide 2 direct routes connecting all four corners of the Town with the Town Centre, serving all main destinations with over 75% of the town’s population within 400m of a bus stop. It would utilise existing infrastructure where possible.
As part of a non-statutory public consultation, plans and particulars of the proposed development together with a short survey questionnaire are available for inspection and completion at https://consult.westmeathcoco.ie/en/content/mullingar-town-bus-service
These can also be inspected or purchased, at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, at the Municipal District of Mullingar-Kinnegad, Áras an Chontae, Mullingar from 9.30am to 4.00pm each day, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, from Wednesday 13 January 2021 up to and including Wednesday 24 February 2021.
Submissions and observations with respect to the proposed development, can be made via the Councils Consultation Portal at https://consult.westmeathcoco.ie/en/content/mullingar-town-bus-service or if in writing should be clearly marked “Proposed Mullingar Bus Service”, and addressed to District Manager, Mullingar Municipal District Office, Áras an Chontae, Mount Street, Mullingar.
All Submissions and observations with respect to the proposed development, should be made before 5.00 p.m. on Wednesday 10 March 2021.
