Press Release: Westmeath Libraries Supporting Ireland

Mullingar Library were delighted to welcome some talented young players from RFA Swans to the Library this week to help launch the new FAI World Cup Activity Book celebrating Ireland’s participation in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023.

Mullingar based RFA Swans, where fun and participation is paramount, is the only all Ladies/Girls Soccer Club in the Midlands, with teams from under 9 all the way to under 18. The club have had a very successful year bringing home silverware in several age groups and a very exciting trip for an under 10s National Blitz to the Aviva Stadium in April. This young club is going from strength to strength and it's down to the amazing young players, their parents, and a wonderful growing Swans Community, all with a common goal of supporting young girls to learn and love the game of soccer.  With the FIFA's Women's World Cup almost upon us the future of soccer and indeed RFA Swans is incredibly bright.

Westmeath Libraries welcomes all children to their local library to collect their free FAI booklet and to get behind our Girls in Green. While you are there why not register for Summer Stars, the National Reading Programme for children of all ages, and explore the full range of events and facilities which are available? This includes story time sessions, children’s activities, access to talking books and games, workshops, computers, and internet access, and of course children’s books for all ages.  Reading during the summer helps children to maintain and improve their vocabulary, their reading and literacy skills, and helps establish a lifelong love of reading.

Access to our libraries is becoming easier with My Open Library in Castlepollard, Moate, and Mullingar Libraries allowing for access 7 days a week from 8AM-10PM. So, what are you waiting for? Why not pop in to chat to our staff about all that we have to offer for the whole family?!
