N4 Mullingar to Longford Update

N4 Mullingar to Longford (Roosky) - Project update

Westmeath County Council, in partnership with Longford County Council and supported by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), is pleased to share an update on the N4 Mullingar to Longford (Roosky) Project.

Following the publication of the Preferred Option in 2025, the project is progressing through Phase 3: Design and Environmental Evaluation. Ongoing work includes detailed design development and a range of engineering and environmental surveys.

 What’s happening next?
Over the coming weeks, the project team will be engaging directly with landowners impacted by the emerging design to discuss proposals, potential impacts, and gather feedback.

Wider public information events are planned later this summer, giving everyone the opportunity to learn more and share their views.

✅ The project aims to:

Improve road safety
Enhance connectivity and accessibility
Support sustainable transport
Boost regional economic growth
Improve quality of life for local communities

We welcome your input and are committed to ongoing engagement throughout the project.
