An Cathaoirleach of Westmeath County Council welcomed Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage John Cummins TD to the County Buildings in Mullingar on Friday 26th June for a meeting with Council Officials to discuss the progress of housing delivery in the county.

Also in attendance at the meeting was Chief Executive Barry Kehoe, Director of Services Jackie Finney, Director of Services Jean Ryan, Director of Services Deirdre Reilly and Director of Finance Michael Hand.

Following on from the meeting, Minister Cummins visited the site of the newly completed homes at Ennell Court, Mullingar. The Minister was given a tour of the final units recently completed by Director of Housing Jackie Finney, and members of the Housing Capital team involved in the project – Senior Architect Andrew Macken and Clerk of Works Fergus Shaw.

This latest phase at Ennell Court is a development of fifteen one and two-bed A-rated homes. Construction completed on the final 7 units at the end of June, with tenants set to receive keys to their new homes in early July.

Ennell Court is one of four locations which form part of a larger multi-site Design & Build project by Westmeath County Council, which delivered sixty-two units of social housing across Mullingar and Castlepollard. The project was delivered by Westmeath County Council in conjunction with external design team McMahon Associates and contractors Coolsivna Construction Ltd. The other developments in this project included the eight units in Water Street, Castlepollard, twenty-two units in St. Brigid’s Green, Mullingar at seventeen apartments at Robinstown Row, Mullingar which all completed over the last number of months.

Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage John Cummins TD said: “It is fantastic to see these new homes being delivered at Ennell Court in Mullingar, providing high-quality housing for individuals and families in the community.

“Developments like this demonstrate what can be achieved through strong partnership between local builders, contractors, the local authority and Government.

“I want to commend Westmeath County Council for its continued commitments and collaboration in delivering much-needed homes, helping to meet housing needs and building stronger communities.”
