The brand new Kinnegad Library will open the doors to the public on Tuesday 28th October. This marks an exciting milestone for Westmeath County Council and the community in Kinnegad. It is hoped that the midterm break will allow many families the opportunity to drop in and join up with free library membership. Staff will be delighted to help new members find out how to book a study space, use our print, scan and copy service, pick up a free Little Library Bag for any child who started National School in September or just sit and read a magazine. Meeting rooms will be available to view and expressions of interest in their use can be left with staff.
Everyone is encouraged to take a moment to check out the "The Glass Room Misinformation Edition’ exhibition available to view as part of Global Media and Information Literacy Week and the Skills for Life Programme.
In order to ensure smooth opening and operations, and to allow staff to finalise new systems, the library will open with limited hours during its first week. Members of the public will be welcome to call in between 10am- 5pm Tuesday 28th - Friday 31st October.
Regular staffed hours will come into operation from 9.40am on Monday 3rd November.
Visit www.westmeathcoco.ie/library for further information or contact staff by emailing kngdlib@westmeathcoco.ie or telephoning 044 9338995.
The opening of Kinnegad Library is the first element to open in the new Kinnegad Community Library and Education and Training Centre. Westmeath Libraries look forward to working with Longford Westmeath Education and Training Board in the future. The LWETB's purpose-built facilities will allow them to develop educational programmes in line with their academic termtime.
The reimagination of the Old School House into a modern library, community hub and centre of culture and education has been made possible through funding through Project Ireland 2040 and the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) from the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht.
