Contracts were signed between Westmeath County Council and Coolsivna Ltd. for the construction of thirty-one new homes, associated parking, public open space and site development works at Ennell Court, Mullingar, with construction to commence next week.
The project is being delivered under Rebuilding Ireland and will provide 20 no. three bedroom two-storey family homes, 1 no. two bedroom two-storey family home, 8 no. two-bedroom single storey homes and 2 no. two bedroom apartments. The development is located adjacent to the existing housing estate at Ennell Court, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath on a brownfield site where houses have previously been demolished.
The development is designed to greatly improve and enhance passive supervision whereby 12 of the houses face onto the Royal Canal Linear Park.
All houses are designed to nearly Zero Energy Building (nZEB) standards and use the latest Air-to-Water heating technology. Each home includes a wet-room at ground floor level suitable for assisted showering. Nine of the homes are specifically designed to suit the needs of older persons or persons with disabilities.
The main contractor, Coolsivna Construction Ltd., is a Galway based company established in 2006 by Patrick Gardiner which specialises in Residential, Commercial, Educational & Healthcare construction.
The scheme at Ennell Court is designed by Westmeath County Council’s in-house architectural team with the assistance of G.D.C.L Engineers, Tom McNamara and Partners Quantity Surveyors and JAK Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.
