Pursuant to the requirements of the above, notice is hereby given that Westmeath County Council proposes to carry out development at Castlepark, Castlelost Townland, Rochfortbridge, Co. Westmeath.
The development will consist of:
The construction of 12 no. dwellings, 4 no. 3-bed two storey semi-detached units and 8 no. 2-bed two storey semi-detached units along with all associated site development works including a wastewater pumping station. The development will be accessed through the existing Castlepark Housing Estate.
The proposal has undergone Appropriate Assessment (AA) Screening under the EU Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC) and an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Screening under the EIA Directive 2014/52/EU. The Planning Authority has made a preliminary examination of the nature, size and location of the proposed development. The authority has concluded that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and a determination has been made that an Environmental Impact Assessment is not required.
Any person may, within 4 weeks beginning on 6th June 2026, apply to An Coimisiún Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the proposed development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.
For a period of 4 weeks the Plans and Particulars of the proposed development are available for inspection at https://consult.westmeathcoco.ie/en and they can be inspected or purchased at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy at the offices of Westmeath County Council at Áras An Chontae, Mount Street Mullingar, N91 FH4N or Athlone Civic Centre, Church Street, Athlone, N37 P2T5 between the hours of 9.30am to 4.00pm each day, excluding weekends & Bank Holidays from 6th June 2026 up to and including 6th July 2026.
For a period of six weeks, beginning on 6th June 2026, submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made in writing to: The Administrative Officer, Planning Department, Áras an Chontae, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, N91 FH4N or online via the Council's Consultation Portal at https://consult.westmeathcoco.ie/en.
The closing date for receipt of submissions or observations is Monday 20th July 2026 at 4pm.
Submissions should be labelled 'LAM5 2026 CASTLEPARK, ROCHFORTBRIDGE' and include the name, address and details of any organisation represented if relevant.
Please note - Written submissions or observations received will form part of a public statutory report to be presented to Westmeath County Council. The information contained in submissions will be available for public inspection on the Council's website and at the Council’s public counter on request. Details, including the names of those making submissions will be shared with relevant Council Departments or their agents involved in the Part 8 process.
