Transfer

Tenants who have experienced a change in their housing needs may apply for a transfer to alternative accommodation. A transfer application will be considered in accordance with Westmeath County Council’s Housing Allocation Scheme - Adopted June 2022

Please note in accordance with the Scheme of Letting Priorities an application for transfer will be considered on the basis of accommodation needs (structural) e.g. medicalovercrowding or downsizing.

Qualifying Criteria

An applicant will only be eligible for consideration if they have complied with the following:

  • Have a clear rent account
  • Have adhered to the terms of their Tenancy Agreement including maintaining the property to an acceptable standard
  • Have not engaged in anti-social behaviour
  • Have lived peaceably in their current dwelling in accordance with terms of their tenancy agreement

How to Apply

Please submit a fully completed Transfer Application Form  to your local housing office or via email. See details below.

What Happens Next

  • Once a valid application is submitted, it is processed, and an assessment is carried out. This can take up to 12 weeks.
  • A decision is issued in writing to confirm approval/refusal onto the transfer list.
