Food Safety

Veterinary functions include:

  • The inspection and supervision of domestic abattoirs and stand alone premises.
  • Management of the Council’s dog/horse control responsibilities 
  • Delivery of advice to the Planning and Environment functions of the Council
  • Representation at the Midland Zoonosis Committee.  This committee consists of all the various multi-disciplinary public health professionals involved in Food Safety and aim to control and prevent zoonotic diseases i.e. disease communicable from animals to humans.
