Westmeath with its central location and excellent infrastructure is ideally situated for inward investmeath. Mullingar, the county town, is just an hour from Dublin and has a strong manufacturing base. However,the town still retains its Market Town feel and sense of community, making it a great place to live and work. Mullingar Chamber in co-operation with Westmeath County Council has created a brochure highlighting just some of what Mullingar has to offer visitors and residents.
Athlone in the very 'heart' of Ireland is a large urban centre with an established pharma industrty. The National Planning Framework identifies Atlone as the key 'Regional Growth Centre' in the Midlands. The town is also home to the award winning Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT). It has recently been announced that a consortium of AIT and Limerick Institute of Technology will develop a technilogical university (TU) for the Midlands and Mid-West.
