During the winter months, Westmeath County Council monitors road conditions and, in the event of frost and snow, implements a winter gritting programme based on an agreed schedule of roads adopted by the elected members.
The key aim of Westmeath County Council is to keep major routes safe and as free as possible from hazardous road conditions.
Motorists are asked to take extreme care on all routes and, for necessary journeys, to please use these treated routes for as much of the journey as possible.
