Service Indicators National
In May 2000, a defined set of service indicators was introduced for local authority services where by service to the public could be assessed and tracked over time. Twenty one indicators were reported on in the Annual Reports of each local authority up to 2004, at which point a comprehensive review entitled “Delivering Value for People – Service Indicators in Local Authorities” was published which is the basis of the current service indicator initiative which is in place since that time. There are forty two national indicators which span a range of services including housing, planning, environmental services, roads, motor tax, libraries, arts and culture, recreational services, revenue collection and corporate issues.
The Annual National Service Indicator Reports which can be viewed under this section contain contextual information which taken together with the prevailing economic background are important considerations in assessing year on year comparison within and between local authorities.
