ATHLONE TOWN COUNCIL

You are requested to attend the May Monthly Meeting of Athlone Town Council which will be held in the Civic Centre, Church Street, Athlone at 6.00p.m. on Tuesday May 8th 2012.
A G E N D A1. To confirm and sign the Minutes of the April Monthly Meeting held on April 2nd 2012.
2. To consider the disposal of land in accordance with the Section 183 Notices circulated.
4. To consider a recommendation from the Civic Receptions Committee.
a) Update on Castle and Gallery projects
b) Budgetary implications for ATC

(a) Cllr. K. Moran:
“That this Council considers erecting a crash barrier between Connaught Street Car-Park and College Park”
(b) Cllr. K. Moran:
“That this Council examines and rectifies the dip in the road entering into Ardbrae Park”
(c) Cllr. G. McFadden:
"That this Council will develop the area at the back wall of the Castle on Main Street as a prestigious country Saturday market, to attract visitors from the hinterland of Athlone and as an amenity for tourists”
(d) Cllr. G. McFadden:
“That this Council will avoid the distress caused to residents by Fun Fairs by setting aside an area specifically for this purpose”
(e) Cllr. G. McFadden:
“That this Council would resurface the lane at the back of St. Patrick’s Tce and provide two speed ramps thereon”
(f) Cllr. A. O’Rourke:
"In light of major cost cutting measures being implemented at RTE, that this Council would write to the Director General of RTE, Mr. Noel Curran and the Chairman Mr. Tom Savage, emphatically opposing any plan they or their Board might have to withdraw the RTE Midland Regional Studio from its base in Athlone”
(g) Cllr. A. O’Rourke:
"For this council to once again write to the County Registrar urging her to prioritise applications from the unemployed for the roles of Presiding Officer and Poll Clerk in the upcoming Referendum”
(h) Cllr. A. O’Rourke:
"That this Council would upgrade the footpaths at the top of Pearse Street (Connaught Street end) as they are in poor condition and require remedial work”
(i) Cllr. A. Shaw:
“That the Finance Manager provides an interim report on the Council’s finances at the June Meeting of the Council”
(j) Cllr. A. Shaw:
“That this Council examine footpaths on Magazine Road which need repair work”
(k) Cllr. S. Buckley Byrne:
"Can the Council tell Members what plans are in place for dealing with the issues in the Meadowbrook area in the light of recent negative media coverage”
(l) Cllr. S. Buckley Byrne:
"That this Council outline to Members the current system in place for water rates applied to businesses in Athlone, outlining how water is charged and average rates for businesses. Will this service and revenue leave the local authority in the future?”
(m) Cllr. S. Buckley Byrne:
"That this Council update Members on the collection of the Household Charge, numbers paid and numbers outstanding and how this is to be done”
(n) Cllr. P. Hogan:
"That this Council undertake works to upgrade the basketball court and general play area at Valleycourt”
(o) Cllr. P. Hogan:
"That this Council contact landowner(s) who own land adjoining Cloghanboy estate to ensure the open drain is properly fenced off and made safe”
(p) Cllr. P. Hogan:
"That Athlone Town Council provide a left hand turn at the N55 roundabout approaching from the Brawney direction”
