Westmeath County Council has published its Winter Service Plan for 2018-2019.
The purpose of this document is to identify the processes, procedures and key personnel employed by Westmeath County Council to deliver the winter service on public roads in County Westmeath.
Winter maintenance of public roads involves dealing with severe weather conditions such as icy roads and snow clearance operations. The key aim of Westmeath County Council is to keep major routes safe and as free as possible from hazardous road conditions. The County has a schedule of priority routes which are gritted with salt, each time it is deemed necessary to do so.
Please see the page on Winter Gritting for full details of the plan, including maps.
