Met Éireann have issued a status yellow Weather Advisory for Snow/Ice for a number of counties, including Westmeath, which is valid from Tuesday 09/02/2021 at 10:00 until Wednesday 10/02/2021 at 18:00. Wintry showers are being forecast during the day with severe frost being forecast at night.
Met Éireann have also issued a second status yellow Weather Advisory for Snow/Ice for the country including Westmeath, which will be valid from 08:00 Thursday 11/02/2021 to 08:00 Friday 12/02/2021. Snow accumulations of 2-5cm are forecast for Thursday.

Road surface temperatures throughout the county last night reached a low of -3 degrees in places. Westmeath County Council gritting crews were deployed last night to treat the Priority Routes throughout our county.

A Status Yellow Snow/Ice warning from Met Eireann remains in place for a number of counties, including Westmeath from 08:00 Wednesday 10/02/2021 to 21:00 Wednesday 10/02/2021 with scattered hail/ snow showers forecasted for today possibly leading to some accumulations in places with icy stretches on untreated road surfaces.

Widespread sharp to severe frost with icy patches forecast for the county tonight with lowest road temperatures of -3 degrees predicted. All our Winter Maintenance Crews have been activated and will respond during the course of the night and early morning as necessary.
