Status Orange Low Temperature and Ice Warning

A status Orange low temperature and ice warning has issued from Met Eireann for Westmeath and will come into effect from 18:00 Wednesday 14/12/2022 to 12:00 Thursday 15/12/2022. Check out www.met.ie for further details.

Road Temperatures of -8 degrees with widespread severe frost and ice are forecast for tonight and this will lead to treacherous road conditions. Gritting crews in the county will continue to treat 566km of  priority road network this evening and throughout the night as necessary.

Please avoid any unnecessary journeys but if you have to travel by road, plan your journey by checking out http://www.westmeathcoco.ie/en/ourservices/roadsparkingandtransport/wintergritting/

Drive safely and never assume any road is ice free just because it is treated with salt
