Sod turning at Bun Daire Kinnegad

The construction of twelve new social houses has commenced at Bun Daire, Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath.

The “Official Sod Turning” for the project was carried out by Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government Mr Damien English T.D., in the presence of An Leas Cathaoirleach Cllr John Shaw on Friday 15 November 2019.

The project is being delivered under “Rebuilding Ireland” and will provide eleven new three-bedroom family homes, together with a four-bedroom home for a family with special needs, adjacent to the existing housing scheme at Bun Daire, Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath.

The development also provides a large public open space which will enhance the proposed development and the existing estate.

The building company is T.H. (Contractors) Ltd., which was established by Tom Henry in 1975 and based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo.

T.H. (Contractors) Ltd. have a long-established history of public works projects, including a nine-home scheme recently completed for Westmeath County Council at St Laurence’s Terrace, Mullingar.

The scheme at Kinnegad is designed by Westmeath County Council’s in-house architectural team with the assistance of O.R.S. Civil and Structural Engineers, Tom McNamara & Partners Quantity Surveyors and JAK Mechanical & Electrical Engineers.

All houses are designed to an A2 building energy rating using the latest Air-to-Water heating technology. Each house has level access at the front entrance, side access to the rear gardens and includes a wet room at ground floor level suitable for assisted showering.

The project is scheduled for completion by December 2020.
