PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS 2001 – 2015 (PART 8)
PUBLIC REALM ENHANCEMENT WORKS TO CHURCH STREET, ATHLONE
Notice is hereby given in accordance with the requirements of the above Regulations that Westmeath County Council proposes to carry out enhancement works to Church Street,
Athlone between Custume Place and Griffith Street.
The proposed development, which is the subject of this Part 8, will include the following:
1. Traffic calming of Church Street and the junctions with Northgate Street/Custume Place/Church Street and the Bawn/Mardyke Street/Dublin Gate Street intersections.
2. The paving of Church Street in a combination of different stone types to includeGranite, Limestone and Basalt that takes account of the access needs of pedestrians,mobility impaired persons and service vehicles,
3. The provision of new street furniture, soft landscaping and trees
4. Installation of new route signage.
The implementation of the scheme necessitates the introduction of a one-way traffic system
on Church Street.
Plans and particulars including a design statement for the proposed development may be inspected at Athlone Civic Centre, Church Street, Athlone between the hours of 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays from Wednesday 1st February 2017 to Monday 20th March 2017. The documentation may be inspected on the Council’s website.
Submissions and observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development is
proposed, may be made in writing to Westmeath County Council, and should be addressed to:-
