October 2017 is National Reuse Month. The purpose of Reuse Month is to raise awareness about the economic and environmental benefits of reusing everyday items and materials that would otherwise go to waste. The campaign is designed to challenge our behaviours and reduce the amount of waste we create and promote ways for families, businesses and communities to reuse.
Westmeath County Council want you to design a Christmas tree decoration by reusing, repairing and upcycling products, to decrease the amount of materials going to landfill and extend the life of products before they are recycled.
Why design a Christmas decoration in October you may ask!?!
Westmeath County Council is supporting the North Westmeath Hospice who have joined together with the community to hold a Charity Ball on the 18th of November 2017 to help raise funds for our local Hospice Home Care Services.
This festival will culminate in a display of Christmas trees and auction of same in the Park Hotel, Mullingar at the Ball. Westmeath County Council is sponsoring one of these trees. The tree is the masterpiece and creation of the Westmeath Men’s Sheds.
All entries will be photographed and put on display on Westmeath County Council ‘s Facebook page. The public will be asked to vote for their favourite and the 10 lucky entries with the most votes will win a €20 shopping voucher and be placed on the tree (A selection of other entries also be displayed on the tree)
To be part of this truly collaborative project submit your entries before 5pm Friday 21st October 2017 to
