Westmeath County Council has completed the first eight new homes of a twelve unit development at The Green, Bun Daire, Kinnegad, Westmeath. The project was designed and overseen by Westmeath County Council’s in-house architectural department. Eight homes are now complete with tenants moving in over this past week. Cathaoirleach Councillor Ken Glynn stated “I am delighted to see this high-quality development being completed by Westmeath County Council and to see tenants move into these very high-quality, energy efficient new homes”
The main contractor for the project is TH Contractors Ltd. The development is located adjacent to the existing housing estate at Bun Daire, within easy walking distance of Kinnegad town centre. The scheme includes the provision of almost an acre of public open space.
The houses are all built to a very high standard of finish and in terms of energy efficiency are nearly Zero Energy Buildings or 'nZEB' standard.
All homes incorporate level access with wider front doors, a ground floor wet-room, wider corridors, the elimination of radiators on the ground floor to facilitate easier access and wider internal doors.
The design of the project was led by Westmeath County Council’s in-house architectural team. The consultant design team include O.R.S. Engineering in the role of Civil and Structural Engineers, Tom McNamara and Partners as Quantity Surveyors and JAK Engineering as Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
