Community Grants Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District
In the 2021 budget approved by the members of Westmeath County Council an allocation of €195,000 was provided for Community Grants and Cathaoirleach Awards. The purpose of the Community Grants is to assist and encourage Community Groups with their local voluntary work which enhances the wellbeing for all in the county.
Under the community grants budget 2021 there was a call made for grant applications under the following categories:
• Tidy Towns Grants
• Residents Associations Grants
• Community Action Grants
An online application form was introduced for the first time for the Community Action Scheme to enhance the application process for 2021. This call for applications was advertised in local press, PPN contacts, online funding workshops, etc. and received an enormous response with a total of 475 applications received an increase of nearly 20% on previous years applications. This has resulted in the grant per organisation in 2021 being lower than in 2020.
254 grant applications were made in the Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District, totalling €82,211.74. 153 Community Grants, 73 Resident Association Grants and 14 Tidy Town Grants.
