Bus Stop Enhancement Programme

Westmeath County Council is working with the NTA to facilitate the enhancement / upgrade of existing bus stops to meet the Transport For Ireland minimum requirements for customer experience.

The aim of the Bus Stop Enhancement Programme is to achieve consistency across the bus network in terms of infrastructure provision.

This consists of:

  • Transport For Ireland (TFI) bus poles including bus flag and information carousel
  • Hardstanding with desirable dimensions subject to site conditions
  • Provision for 160mm high kerbing to accommodate low floor access buses
  • Provision for accessible seating

In addition, and where appropriate:

  • Provision for Bus Shelters with integrated seating and courtesy lighting
  • The provision of hardstanding areas to accommodate the use of wheelchair lifts on high floor coaches
