Local Area Planning Guide

This website presents the user with an overview of the planning context in Westmeath in an interactive manner through the use of video, 3d flyovers and E-books. The introductory video provides an overview of the county in terms of its many natural assets, visitor attractions and socio-economic profile. The gateway towns of Mullingar and Athlone are each presented in a 3d flyover which depicts the town and its environs, key buildings and features and specific framework plans showing the form and layout of future development. Information on the principal towns in Westmeath can be obtained by selecting on the individual settlements on the county map. The animated E-Books enable you to browse through the policies and development strategies contained in the County Development Plan and Athlone Town Plan.
