The Athlone Joint Retail Strategy 2019-2026 has been commissioned by both Westmeath and Roscommon County Councils and in terms of spatial extent, relates to lands identified within both the Athlone Town Development Plan 2014-2020 and the Monksland Bellanamullia Local Area Plan 2016-2022.
The aim of the Athlone Joint Retail Strategy 2019-2026 is ‘to promote the development of a vibrant and competitive retail sector within Athlone and its environs, whilst protecting the integrity, vibrancy and viability of the centre of Athlone’. Note: This variation does not include changes to the overall development strategy contained within the existing Plan or land use zoning changes.
Public Inspection Point:
A copy of the proposed Variation together with the associated documentation (including SEA and AA Screening Reports and Determinations) are available for inspection at the offices of Athlone Municipal District, Civic Centre, Church Street, Athlone, Co. Westmeath and inspection at the Planning Department, Roscommon County Council, Áras an Chontae, Roscommon, County Roscommon at from Friday 1st February 2019 until Wednesday 20th March 2019. Submissions or observations on the proposed Variation should be made via email to email@example.com. Submissions made via email must include the full name and address of the person making the submission and where relevant, the body or organisation represented.
Please mark your submission clearly as follows:

Written submissions or observations in relation to the proposed amendment may also be submitted to the Administrative Officer, Forward Planning Department, Westmeath County Council, Áras an Chontae, Mount Street, Mullingar or the District Manager, Athlone Municipal District, Civic Centre, Church Street, Athlone, Co. Westmeath before 5.00pm on Wednesday 20th March 2019.
Submissions or observations should be made via one medium only i.e. email or hard copy.
All submissions or observations made within said period will be taken into consideration before the making of a decision in respect of the Amendment process.
All submissions should include your name and a contact address, and where relevant, details of any organisation, community group or company etc., which you represent.
