The Heritage Plan is a five year document, which details how heritage in the county shall be managed and protected on a partnership basis. It is an opportunity to identify heritage issues and heritage needs at a local level and to address them locally within a national framework.
Westmeath County Council and Westmeath Heritage Forum have begun the process of writing a new Heritage Plan for County Westmeath. Following an initial phase of Public Consultation, the Heritage Forum has prepared a Draft Heritage Plan for County Westmeath.
A four week period of Public consultation on this Draft Plan will run from 27th March – 25th April 2018. Community groups, tidy towns groups, historical societies, wildlife groups, interested parties and stakeholder are invited to make a submission on the Draft Plan. Hard copies of the Draft Heritage Plan are on public display in the Council Offices in Mullingar, Athlone, Castlepollard and in each branch library.
