 Biodiversity Week 18th - 26th May:

Fore details of events taking place during Biodiversity Week please see the Irish Environmental Network web page (http://ien.ie/bw13/).  This is a  comprehensive one-stop-shop for finding Biodiversity Week events, with event information from IEN members and local county councils and community groups etc.
There is a suite of very cheerful and bright images designed for general Biodiversity Week promotions and these can by used by anyone wishing to do so.   The resources are available to download at: http://ien.ie/bw13/resources/

The IEN are running a photography competition also.  The idea is to send in a photo taken during Biodiversity Week itself, with the theme of 'Water and Nature' (this year's CBD theme) interpreted in whatever way one chooses.  All the details are available here: http://ien.ie/bw13/photo-competition/

Gum Litter TaskForce Competition 2013:

The Gum Litter Taskforce campaign aims to develop a long-term, sustainable solution to gum litter by increasing awareness of the  issue, influencing a positive behavioural change towards correct gum litter disposal and the stronger enforcement of the €150 litter fine.

The Council is launching it's campaign on Wednesday 29th May in the Market Square in Mullingar at 1pm. If you or your committee would like to take part please email rmaxwell@westmeathcoco.ie or phone Ruth on 044 93 32125.

The Tidy Towns National Competition is also running a competition tackling this issue. The GLT are sponsoring the competition and the prize fund is €2,000 with an additional €1,000 to the overall winner. For more information see: Gum Litter Task Force Competition 2013
