Serving as a retained firefighter requires dedication and strong commitment to the welfare of your community.

To become a firefighter you:

• Need to be over the age of 18.
• Need to be in good health and to have perfect eyesight.
• Must live & work within a reasonable distance of the Fire Station (not greater than 1.6km) where you wish to serve.

As part of the interview process, verbal & written skills will be tested as will physical ability to ascend ladders and to work in confined spaces.

A medical examination is required before appointment.

Vacancies are advertised in the local press. Candidates successful at interview stage may be placed on a panel from which future vacancies may be filled.
