As part of the Midlands Regional Enterprise Plan Pathway for Just Transition project, which is co-funded by the Irish government and the EU Just Transition Fund 2021-2027, Westmeath County Council are working to engage with students, at both primary and post-primary level, to increase their interest in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), with a particular focus on increasing the uptake in Computer Science within schools.

We aim to support schools with their current STEM programmes, as well as introducing new programmes such as VEX Robotics, Scratch Coding, Microbits, STEM Passport for Inclusion and Dream Big, among others.

Alongside our work with the schools in the county, we also co-ordinate workshops in the county libraries, and work with voluntary groups.
