There are a wealth of Community Groups who can support you to engage in all areas of community life in Westmeath.
New Horizon Refugee & Asylum Seeker support is a community group which has been working with International Protection applicants in Athlone since 2000. Their main focus is on almost 500 residents in Direct Provision sites in Athlone and Horseleap, Moate. They also work with Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection, Ukrainians living in state-provided accommodation in the Athlone area.

Mullingar and Athlone Parkrun- parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. parkrun is 5k and takes place every Saturday morning.

Irish Men’s Sheds Association- All sheds are independent and self-autonomous, and the range of activities carried out by sheds differ from the next. Most sheds engage in activities such as woodwork, gardening, carpentry and community work. However, there are more special interests sheds that focus on things like music, fishing and restoration work.
