Health Supports

The Health Service Executive (HSE) provides public health and social care services to everyone living in Ireland.

There are free GP clinics available for Roma communities, protection applicants and undocumented migrants ONLY  (those without access to primary care services).

The Citizens Information Board is the statutory body which supports the provision of information, advice and advocacy on a broad range of public and social services.

HSE Local Health Offices

Your Local Health Office is your entry point to community health and personal social services. In Westmeath your Local Health Offices are based in:

On arrival in Ireland you can apply for a Medical card. This card gives you access to medical services, prescription medicines and hospital care for free and you can apply online or by post. In order to qualify for one your weekly income must be under a certain amount. The HSE will complete a means test to check your income.

Patient transport:

The Order of Malta Ireland provide patient transport to people who require medical transport to and from hospital appointments. Requests should be submitted via email - if you receive a letter for a hospital appointment please include a copy of the appointment letter in the email as well as your current address/location. If they have availability, the Order of Malta will provide transport to and from the appointment.

Barnardos Bereavement Service provides trauma and grief support for Ukrainian parents. This webpage is in Ukrainian and is a hub for all Barnardos resources translated to Ukrainian.

Connect Counselling is an additional service to the HSE’s National Counselling Service which provides free face to face and phone counselling for people who have suffered abuse, trauma, or neglect in their childhood.
