Westmeath County Council provides a range of Grants to community groups to assist with actions and projects being undertaken in their local area. These grants are intended to sustain community activity and active citizenship. The range of grants available under the Community Grants 2015 are:
This grant will assist projects through which organisations aim to make a positive contribution to the local community, foster shared responsibility, community awareness and encourage more people to participate in the development of their community.
The grant will assist local Tidy Towns groups to undertake improvement works for the purpose of enhancing the local environment of their town or village and participation in the National Tidy Towns competition.
This grant will assist a group of local people living in a housing development which comes together to promote and enhance the living environment of their area.
The timeline for advertisement and closing date for applications for these grants will be the same as for the Cathaoirleach Awards. Approval of applications and the amount of the grants will be based on an assessment of the merits of each application received and the funding available.
Westmeath County Council recognises the contribution that Festivals and Events make to the lives of the people of the county and the economic benefits in terms of increased activity.
The key objective of the fund is to provide support to local community event organisers and activities/projects that will harness diaspora links for the benefit of local and community tourism.
Community and Voluntary organisations/Chambers of Commerce are invited to apply for assistance under the Christmas Lights LED Upgrade Grant 2016.
The purpose of the funding is to promote diaspora engagement at a county, local and community level.
