The Local Government (Charges) Act 2009 introduces a €200 annual charge on non principal private residences, payable by the owners to the local authority in whose area the property concerned is located.

Household Charge
The Household Charge is an annual charge introduced by the Local Government (Household Charge) Act 2011 which is payable by owners of residential property.
It is a matter for owners of residential properties to register and pay the Household Charge on or after the 1st of January 2012. The EU/IMF Programme of Financial Support for Ireland commits the Government to the introduction of a property tax for 2012.

Water Charges
Under the Government's National Water Pricing Policy Framework, Westmeath County Council is required to apply charges to the non-domestic sector on the basis of the "water in/water out" principle, i.e. full recovery of the full cost of all water services (water supply and sewage collection and disposal) by means of a unit charge in respect of metered water.

Housing Rents
Westmeath County Council maintains a stock of dwellings to support its work under its Social Housing Programme. Payments for the rent of these dwellings can be made by using this online method or by the existing An Post Billpay, PostPoint, An Post EFT Deduction at Source, Paypoint faciliities in shops or at any of the Council's Area Offices including the main Civic Offices in Mullingar & Athlone.

Housing Loans
Westmeath County Council as part of their Social Housing resposponsibility has advanced mortgage loans to enable qualyifying applicants to provide their own homes. Mortgage payments can me made using this online method, by Standing Order or at any of the Council's Area Offices including the main Civic Offices in Mullingar & Athlone.
