Civil Defence Regional Competitive Exercises, 22 September 2012
Westmeath Civil Defence are hosting one of a series 6 Regional competitive exercises in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, on Saturday 22 September 2012 commencing at 9.45 and concluding at 16.30. The exercise has been planned, over the summer months, by a team of Westmeath members.
In addition to Westmeath Civil Defence, the Mullingar unit of the Order of Malta, the Mullingar Sub Aqua, the Defence Forces and Mullingar Wheelers are assisting with the set up and adjudication of exercise scenarios.
Teams from Dublin, Kildare, Sligo, Offaly and Longford will undertake tests in Footdrill, Casualty, Communications, Search and Recovery. Members will also participate in a Field Hospital Workshop which will be conducted by a Westmeath Civil Defence Paramedic.
A total of 140 personnel, including 60 Westmeath members and 70 members of visiting teams will be involved in the day’s activities.
The exercise will be attended by Cllr. Johnny Penrose, Cathaoirleach, Westmeath County Council and Mr. Brian Spain, Chairman, Civil Defence Board.
