Contract No.1 – Design Build Operate (DBO) Contract for Upgrade and Expansion of Clonmore Waste Water Treatment Plant and Lynn Road Pumping Station

This Contract was awarded to Veolia Water Ireland as main contractor. The work has been completed and the Wastewater Treatment Plant was officially opened in November 2010. The Contract Value for the Design and Build Element of the DBO Contract was €24.9m.

The Contract provided for an increase in the treatment capacity from 20,000 population equivalent (PE) to 55,000 PE, the construction of a sludge drier, and the construction of a 104,220 PE Regional Sludge Treatment Centre capable of accepting and treating sludge from outlying areas in addition to sludge generated on site.

Contract No.2 - Interceptor Sewer

This Contract was valued at €11.4M and was awarded to Pierse Contracting Ltd. The construction period for the Interceptor Sewer was eighteen months and the contract has been completed.

All pipelaying work is now complete, with more than 4 kilometers of pipe up to 1800mm diameter having been laid. Most of the pipelaying work in the Town Centre was accomplished by tunneling, to minimize disruption to the public, including a section under the main Dublin to Sligo railway line.
